About our tests and treatment

Is the ICU at Krupa Hospital open at night?

Yes. ICU and emergency admissions run 24 hours, every day.

Is ICU treatment covered by insurance?

HDFC ERGO policies are cashless. For other insurers we prepare the bills and papers you need for reimbursement.

What is the difference between BiPAP and a ventilator?

BiPAP gives pressure through a face mask while the patient is awake. A ventilator breathes through a tube in the windpipe and is used when a mask isn't enough.

Does going on a ventilator mean the patient won't recover?

No. A ventilator supports breathing while treatment works. Many patients come off it once the lungs or the poison's effects improve.

Is a 2D Echo painful?

No. It is an ultrasound. A cool gel and a probe are moved over the chest for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Do I need to fast for ECG or 2D Echo?

No fasting is needed for either test.

Should I take my inhaler before a PFT?

Ask reception when you book. Some inhalers are paused for a few hours before the test so the result is accurate.

How long does a PFT take?

About 15 to 20 minutes.

Should every snake bite come to hospital?

Yes. Some venom takes hours to show effects, so every bite needs observation for 24 hours.

What should we bring for a poisoning case?

The bottle, packet or strip of what was swallowed. It helps the ICU team choose the right antidote.

No. We give emergency treatment and monitoring, and arrange transfer to a cath lab when angioplasty is needed.

No, but it can't be ruled out without an ECG. Come in rather than assuming it's gas or acidity.

Usually every 3 months until sugar is controlled, then as the doctor advises. HbA1c is checked at least twice a year.

Can I stop BP tablets once BP is normal?

Who should get the pneumonia vaccine?

Adults over 65, and people with diabetes, heart, lung or kidney disease. The doctor will advise the schedule.
